Drifting Cowboy

Brace yourself for a good old country song for a cowboy gone too soon. This sentimental memorial has what it takes to bring a tear to your eye and an " aw shucks" to your lips. It was written for Billy Frew, one of our jamming pals and was recorded at Twisted Gitar Music Studio. Using a gentle, warm embrace we got down to the nitty gritty of what true friendship is all about. (Smokeywine.com) Billy was a giant of a man with an equally giant heart. He liked it when I played my mandolin and he shared his enthusiasm for my original songs.

Billy Frew

Our friend was a genuine, homegrown artist and songwriter who will be missed dearly by many. If you'd like to listen to some of his beautiful tunes, check out: Billy Frew Music on his FB page or find him on You Tube.

Back to my song release, once again I did some fancy fingerpicking on the Larrivee acoustic, added a pretty little mandolin track and an perfect bassline to create a dynamic trio for this melodic ode to one who was here and gone in the musical circle of life. My best advice today is do what you do and say what you say and make it true, cause one day we will all drift away.

I really miss jamming with all you fabulous musicians out there... We are looking forward to when we can all get back together again. In the meantime, Lea and I will continue our live Facebook concerts starting Sunday, June 14th at 6PM. Hope to see you there! I want to thank my new listeners in Great Britain, Australia, Perth-U.K. and Berlin-Germany. We appreciate that you support organic, homegrown music and local artists.

Grabbing every photo we could find on Facebook, we put together the video above in honour of Billy. Here's a general thanks and credit to the photographers (you know who you are) I'd like to sign off with a big virtual bear hug for you all. Mark Sheldan.
