This week's new release is a tasty little country ballad that soothes the soul and quenches the thirst for a romantic interlude.
When love bubbles over inside me, it has to come out in a poem or a song. Lately I've been exploring unusual imagery in my verses paired up with easy-going, sing-along choruses. I like this phase I'm going through at the moment because of the freedom I get from my lyrical indulgence. It's not just spewing out words; there's a deep meaning and truth behind the cryptic prose.
What brings 'Gifts' to the western front is the sweet sounds of the slide guitar, played by my long-time friend and ridiculously talented Peter Honychurch. He sent us incredible tracks from Vancouver Island and Lea magically engineered the rest in our Twisted Gitar Music Studio. I love how Pro Tools and the internet makes that possible! (leasheldan.com) Playing my acoustic Larivee, I delivered some top notch, delicate guitar plucking while Lea pulled off smooth Smokeywine harmonies, backing me up to perfection. I tossed in a bassline and an emotional vocal track that is believable and raw, offering up creative, profound messages within this heavenly, love story filled with myriad poetic imagery that pulls on the right heartstrings.
