Goodbye, Adieu, Farewell

The special thing about the folks I have said goodbye to, is that each had a way of looking at life that was very different than mine but sometimes we ramble into a tune we just can't sing. There were times when the common ground I once shared dissolved and it was time to part ways and travel in a new direction. Saying goodbye is never easy but from time to time a necessity. In my past relationships, music was usually the catalyst that brought us together. Incompatibility and infidelity usually tore us apart. Throughout my journey, I learned how to be a better man, a better cook, a better artist and finally, a better me.

Mysterious Mark

This beautiful ballad emerged from an ill-fated journey of travel, romance, arguments and drama. Lots of drama. The tragic sounds of the fretless bass, dobro, mandolin and accordion brings out tear-producing emotions with incredible finger picking that strikes the heart of the listener. It reeks of the 70's hippie dippy philosophy and oozes healthy amounts of sentiment and charm. Visit songs page on my website to listen to the full version of 'Goodbye is a Hard Song.'

Me and my good friend Marion

Unfortunately, there are times when we have to say goodbye to friends and family who leave this world behind. This is the hardest goodbye of all because it is final. We've sung this song at plenty of funerals and said final farewells to many loved ones in the last few years. What I carry in my heart are the fond memories of the times we had; the laughter, the camaraderie, the wonderful way that I felt when I was in their presence. I think of them as new stars in the night sky watching over me and our connection remains strong. As long as I speak their names they stay close to me.

A better me with Lea

Romantic love is a fickle and fragile thing; growing in depth and strength with time. It can last a few months, a few years, or even decades upon decades. It depends on commitment, desire and love from both parties involved. If luck is on your side, the friendship that brought you together continues to grow long after the romantic relationship fizzles. When you find someone whose cooties don't scare you and someone who you can happily share spit with, then it's magic. I am so delighted that Lea now shares her life with me and I never have to say goodbye to her.

Goodbye is a Hard Song

As I get up in the morning from my simple weary bed

I can see the mountain sky turning blue

I’m so glad you told me you’d be leaving someday soon

Cause I know I’ve so many things to do

Goodbye is such a hard song but we’ve been feeling blue

I hope I didn’t cause you too much pain

It looks like we’ve rambled into a tune we just couldn’t sing

Yet the love we built will always be the same

I’m not saying I’m happy cause I know you’re on your way

I’m just thankful that you didn’t leave me blind

Still I feel a little sad we couldn’t reach what I thought we had

That’s the way things are so I don’t really mind

Goodbye is such a hard song but we’ve been feeling blue

I hope I didn’t cause you too much pain

It looks like we’ve rambled into a tune we just couldn’t sing

Yet the love we built will always be the same

Goodbye is such a hard song but we’ve been feeling blue

I hope I didn’t cause you too much pain

It looks like we’ve rambled into a tune we just couldn’t sing

Yet the love we built will always be the same

If you find yourself with trouble or need my help in any way

Or if you just like to drop by and say hello

I’ll always be around inside a house inside a town

There’ll be room for you and yours with a love you know

Goodbye is such a hard song but we’ve been feeling blue

I hope I didn’t cause you too much pain

It looks like we’ve rambled into a tune we just couldn’t sing

So, goodbye’s just fine and it’s all that’s left to say

Goodbye's just fine and it’s all that’s left to say

So, goodbye’s just fine and it’s all that’s left to say.
