Lullaby

Acrylic on Canvas by Mark Sheldan

This is a little girl lullaby that makes you feel like you’ve joined the circus and you're waltzing through a French village. Beautiful imagery of rainbows and all things warm and fuzzy create a perfect tune for an afternoon nap. Long ago, my young daughter couldn't fall asleep so she said, "Daddy, please write me a lullaby?" So like any good father. I acquiesced to her requisition. I made it up on the spot and it came to be that kids of all ages love this song - moms and dads too! It brings out a flower garden of music that revolves around the love that only dreams touch upon.

Danielle

This is Danielle now; my wonderful daughter who has grown up listening to my music with unconditional acceptance. She now lulls herself in nature and looks upon life with joy and love in her heart. As an expert photographer, she has captured many stunning images, injecting a sparkling whimsy into the eyes of imagination. LIke fine art, this week's song points out the mystery of life that things just have to happen. With only two verses and a simple chorus, the message flows with the tides of time. My engineer and friend, Peter Honychurch Mitchell elongated the ending with a extended fade that matched the magical mood.

Frances

Frances, my granddaughter is a saga of stories in and of herself. There will be many songs written for her in the years to come. 'Happy Face' is already one that can be found on Lea Sheldan's solo album 'Anything Goes'. (leasheldan.com)

With a little girl this excited about life, many adventures are sure to follow. She's getting to be a good singer too, belting out "Happy Birthday " to Lea back in March. Now, she knows many more songs. Can't wait to see her again...

Marley

We just saw Marley; my niece Aurora and Conrad's baby boy, who came into this world only four months ago. He is also an avid singer, adding pterodactyl screams in between grunt laughing and spitting up. We sang 'Lullaby' to him the other day and he mumbled right along. This serenade offers a vibrant hope with the pedal steel, artistically played by Peter and the genius accordion by Doug Schmitt elevates everyone to a happy place.

Ruby and Arlo

Once in a while, we get to visit our good friend, Cindy's grandkids, Ruby and Arlo, who are the cutest, most energetic itty bitties around. We've got them singing along wtih 'Toybox Tunes' and enjoying the CD with the fun-filled colouring, activity book. (toyboxtunes.com)

Oscar and Leoplold and Leta

Here are two great grand kids we know: Oscar and Leopold. What a rambunctious pair they are... poor niece Amber. With Lea doing the soothing harmonies behind my voice, we hope this lullaby can soothe all these children into going to sleep naturally and peacefully. Like sweet hellos and sad goodbyes, I must now bid you adieu. Please keep supporting organic, homegrown music and local artists. Love to you all, Mark Sheldan.

Sing along with the lyrics below:

Lullaby

The twinkling stars need to be so high

Sparkling tears need to cry

Like sweet hellos and sad goodbyes

A little girl needs a lullaby

Lullaby, lullaby

A little girl needs a lullaby

Lullaby, lullaby

A little girl needs a lullaby

The birds all need their wings to fly

Rainbows need to span the sky

Love needs to laugh, love needs to cry

A little girl needs a lullaby

Lullaby, lullaby

A little girl needs a lullaby

Lullaby, lullaby

A little girl needs a lullaby

Lullaby, lullaby

A little girl needs a lullaby

Lullaby, lullaby

A little girl needs a lullaby . . .
