If you can't see that I love you then you can't
see at all. Have you ever been enamoured with someone who clearly did not reciprocate? Unrequited love doesn't turn out a happy song but rather a miserable and pathetic one. Ahh, but the poet in me must keep writing, whatever the consequences. Of course, this was many years ago but this song remains timeless and speaks volumes to the members of the broken heart's club.
'Sometimes' is a one-sided, romantic folk song. The agony and the ecstasy dances between the waltzing accordion (Douglas Schmidt) and the Nashville sounds of the pedal-steel guitar. (Peter Honychurch Mitchell) Peter introduced me to a bunch of fine musicians who came to Fluid Sound to play on my 'Love'll Come a-Running' album. Patricia Conroy added beautiful background vocals, Vince Ditrich from 'Spirit of the West' put down drums while Rene Worst played impeccable stand-up bass. To listen to my song grow and expand with the incredible musicianship was astounding. To watch my bank account dwindle as fast as it did was even more astounding!
'Sometimes' is a classic, country ballad filled with beautiful imagery and poetically perfect lyrics. Writing songs is very therapeutic for me, as most of my music is somewhat based on the truth. I enjoy a tragic tale as much as diving into the inane. It took me 43 years to find my true love so never give up hope on finding yours. Here's a shout out to my new listeners in Turkey who downloaded me on Spotify. We have a whole 7 cents in our bank account from the royalties. Exciting! Keep' em coming folks. A big thanks to my loyal fans who have supported me throughout the years. Until next time, dance under rainbows and laugh and sing till time stands still. Mark Sheldan

Sing along with the lyrics below:
Sometimes
You make rainbows dance
Laughter sing and time stand still
You know how to fill
All of the holes in my life
I was mystified
By your style and your grace
I was hypnotized
By the beauty of your face
Sometimes the words come slowly
Sometimes they don't come at all
And if you see that I love you
Then you can't see at all
You are a little child
A little confused and a little bit wild
You are the light that shines
Deep in the darkness of night
Sometimes the words come slowly
Sometimes they don't come at all
And if you can't see that I love you
Then you can't see at all
Look beyond the horizon
Look past the stars in the sky
Where time has no reason
And freedom makes you cry
And that's when you'll know I love you
Touch me with your crimson lips
Touch me with your charms
If only you would share this love
And come into my arms
Sometimes the words come slowly
Sometimes they don't come at all
And if you can't see that I love you
Then you can't see at all
Sometimes the words come slowly
Sometimes they don't come at all
And if you can't see that I love you
Then you can't see at all
