Twenty Bucks

Acrylic on Canvas by Mark Sheldan

Picture any bar, anywhere with pitchers of beer on the table and floozy women displaying their attributes. This is a confession session and storytelling at its best. Written long ago, after a lovely evening in the Arts Club Theatre Lounge. The events are real but the names have been changed to protect the guilty. There is a sense of discomfort in this saga showing uncertainty and hope at the same time. I navigated the best I could through these restless waters when I was a young, single guy.

Hit the play arrow below to see a short video of me playing a boogie bass line 2 ways.

If you practice your bass scales, you will have more dexterity, develop muscle memory and this kinda thing will be easy for you. Do you have music theory questions you need answered? Go to my 'Music Made Easy Page' to learn more about facetime lessons and other stuff. And keep on playing, the world needs more fearless musicians. See examples below. LOL

Here's what twenty bucks looked like back in 1954... But let's get back to this comedy, country folk song with the John Prine like narrative, I play a sneaky mandolin that blends well with my acoustic guitar. I also plunked out a walking bass line to compliment the silly lyrical content. As usual, Lea does the Smokeywine harmonies that are perfectly placed as well as the sound engineering, editing and mastering. (Leasheldan.com) It's a nice waltz for an intimate dance with a sweetheart but doesn't take itself too seriously; much like my paintings.

This March I have new listeners in Germany, US, Canada and Great Britain on ITunes Match, Apple Music and Spotify. Thank you for supporting organic, homegrown music and local artists. I ain't young and I ain't old but I know for sure that music makes the world a better place and brings us closer together. Now, I have to excuse myself to show the little man the big world. Cheers!
