Do you sometimes feel like you don't matter... to the world, to the government, to yourself? I did... so one day last fall, I wrote two songs: The first one was 'Blues Are Gonna Get You', obviously about my battle with the blues. The second one 'Little Bug'. is my take on what it's like to be a small entity in a great big world. To include it in the Toybox Tunes album for children I'm working on with Mark, I had to change the words to be less, shall we say, depressing. Now, there is a more positive message to be happy with what you have.
Little Bug tells of the struggles and challenges in life. How to believe in yourself, overcome bullying and find your passions. We all need a positive song these days to uplift us and make us feel better in this rat race of a world. So, I took my own advise and changed my outlook when I changed the lyrics. Now, a new path has opened up toward children friendly songs filled with wonder, hope, optimism and creativity.
My echoing background vocals are all over this track with a little sing-a-long ooo-wa-ooo thrown in for giggles. I gave it an acoustic, upbeat, singer songwriter vibe, recording it in my Twisted Gitar Music Studio. I'm still working with Pro Tools but seriously contemplating changing to Logic. Always learning new things...
Speaking of learning new things. My dad gave me a full set of Fender Harmonicas. Also under my wooden Christmas tree was a newly reconstructed cello made by both my dad, Dan Lybarger and my brother Craig Lybarger. Made me soooo happy.
