Dream Love

Has life left you wanting what you cannot have and hoping for a love that's out of reach? Been there done that! 'Dream Love' walks the walk like Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton used to do in the old days. It's a classic country breakup song that churns up the belly with sad emotions and desperate feelings. Written with a broken heart a long time ago, I tried to make it as country western as I could, while keeping it pop enough for a cross over radio hit. As it was, I flogged it around town, playing it at J.R. country shows but I couldn't get any stars to buy the song. Another sad failed attempt at stardom. A girl can dream, can't she?

In the early eighties, I had bright pink hair, weighed about a hundred pounds soaking wet with an eye for makeup and fashion. Back then we had talent contests in Penticton but there was nothing like American Idol or The Voice. For fun, my dad and I pictured me as a star in Hollywood, putting my face on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. I designed and sewed that skimpy leather halter top I'm wearing and teased my hair to the max! I was going by 'Leanna' then, trying out exotic names for my new life as a famous person. Haha. Little did I know the music industry would eat me up and spit me out several times over. It'll never stop me from making music and now, thanks to digital platforms becoming commonplace, I'm in it more than ever!

I dreamt up a love and poof, there he was. My one man band and ever loyal companion and husband, Mark Sheldan. (marksheldan.com) He plays his mandolin and acoustic guitar on this track that melt together like bacon and eggs in the mesmerizing lead break. 'Dream Love' is a pitiful love song packed with harmonies that echo and ooze heartbreak, with beautiful lyrics that are both soft on the ears and hard on the heart. It's on our first album, 'Country Love.' (smokeywine.com)

Here are some of the goofy get ups I have designed and forced Mark to wear over the years. As you may have guessed, halloween is my favorite time of year. I wonder what this season will bring to my imagination? Any suggestions? For those of you who reply to the question, "What should Lea and Mark be for Halloween 2019?", you will receive a jar of our finest jam. The latest being plum,/blueberry jelly. AND NOW... Here is a statement that I'd like to announce! The Year of the Great Release has completed it's original goal to release 52 songs in 52 weeks. As of today, Mark and I have uploaded 60 songs into the internet hall of music. Now, granted, there are literally millions of new releases out there, but I believe there are some of you taking the time to check out our songs. I thank you and applaud you for supporting organic, homegrown music and local artists. No offence, but even if you weren't listening, I would still be writing, recording and playing. It's in my blood. So, we will continue to release a song a week until we run out of songs. My weekly blog will now be a bi-weekly event, with Mark filling in the alternate weeks. Until next time, be a fearless dreamer and Live, Laugh & Love! I'll be waiting for your suggestions... ~*.*~ Lea Sheldan

Sing along with the lyrics below:

Dream Love

Dream love, that’s all I have

It’s not enough but it’s not so bad

Dream love slips through my hand

I watch him walk away and dream love again

My head is reeling, something is wrong

I swallowed all my feelings

Now I’m choking out this song

There must be a reason I sit here alone

Could it be freedom means more than a happy home?

Dream love, that’s all I have

It’s not enough but it’s not so bad

Dream love slips through my hand

I watch him walk away and dream love again

Dream love, that’s all I have

It’s not enough but it’s not so bad

Dream love slips through my hand

I watch him walk away and dream love again

I see love’s sunny smile from out here in the rain

I’m walking that thin line between pleasure and pain

My eyes are red with crying

Is there more to lose than gain

I’ve locked my heart but here’s the key

To set me free if you could be my

Dream love, dream love, dream love
