Happy Face

Springtime is here and who isn't ready for a happy love song? This one's for the new born babies of the world. As a matter of fact, Aurora and Conrad just had a baby boy named Marley. Soon after, we went for a visit to hold and smell this five day old cutie patootie who barely opened his eyes to acknowledge us. And now, I hear Stacey and Tim are expecting their first in September! I'll have to write a song for all the new parents called: the 'Smelly Diaper Blues'.

Everywhere I go I am faced with itty bitties who vie for attention 24 / 7. I never had kids so I don't really know the joys and pains of motherhood, but I like my role as 'Glamma' and 'Auntie Leelee'. I get to give the kids back to their parents when they get fussy and I enjoy hours of restful sleep every night. Sorry, not sorry. LOL

After our grand-daughter came into the world almost two years ago, a song was born with her. 'Happy Face' is what Frances shines on us each time we see her. We try to connect with them on facetime whenever we can and Frances sure knows her way around a cell phone. It's uncanny how the young learn so fast. You know another thing that makes me have a happy face? Gazing at flowers. Here's a video for you garden lovers out there, set to the tune of 'Happy Face'.

'Happy Face' is sappy, positive and shares the finest message one can sing about. LOVE! A sweet, soothing lullaby; it is the fifth track on my 'Anything Goes' album. I decided to throw in my angelic harmonies throughout the whole song cause that's just the way I roll. Mark finger picks the beautiful melody on his Larivee guitar adding runs and tremeloes with his 100 year old Gibson mandolin. The way he tells it is; fresh out of high school, he offered his friend $1 a piece for the instrument. $14 later, he had 14 pieces of mandolin in a shopping bag. He heard of a guy in Vancouver who could put it together and the rest is history, as they say. Sing along with the lyrics below

Happy Face

Baby blue eyes and chubby little cheeks

A wondrous newborn fresh and so sweet

You start to giggle when I tickle your feet

You just made the world a better place

With your happy face

So much to do in so little time

Worries pile up enough to blow my mind

You do something funny and I laugh till I cry

You just made the world a better place

With your happy face

When the world gets too rough

And I think I’ve had enough

You comfort me with your warm embrace

You make the world a better place

With your happy face, with your happy face

Sing in the morning to start the day with joy

Hang upside down to take away your frown

Walk out the door with a smile on your face

You might make the world a better place

With your happy face, With your happy face

With your happy face

Happy face, happy face, happy face, happy face, happy face
