Waltz around in our garden, chasing butterflies and bumblebees, it's time to get our hands dirty...halleluia, planting season is here again! The pea seeds are in and we are hungrily searching for mushroom manure and black soil to richen our beds. This garden saga spins the age-old tale of man verses the animal kingdom. Like my song says, we get one, the insects get nine. That's the way it goes in 'Our Garden'; fraught with racoons, (the bandits of the world) skunks, cats, rats, not to mention aphids, ants, slugs, snails etc. You get it. But gardening can be very rewarding as well as frustrating. We stick tiny orbs into crusty dirt and wait in hopes of a miracle. Come harvest time we are exhausted from picking and trimming and mowing and weeding. It never ends.
This original song is a beautiful rendering of the realness of Mother Nature. The gentle guitar played by Frank Faranda rambles about as the harmony vocals lull you into a peaceful mood of tranquility and love. This sultry waltz gives plenty of chances to join the party with la la's and echoing beegees. Mark Sheldan plays smooth, creative bass lines with finesse. www.MarkSheldan.com
This track sits in the pocket between the love songs and the funny songs on my solo album 'Anything Goes'. It's a humorous juxtaposition of the thrill of the fight to get to the veggies before the insects and varmints do. Laugh a little, sway a little and let yourself melt into the story that all gardeners can relate to.
This annual berry bush, which our family calls schwartzberre (German blackberry) is the featured plant in this season's Western Gardener's catalogue. They call it a Garden Huckleberry. Most people think it's poisonous because it's from the nightshade family, but we've been eating them all our lives. I hope they come back to our garden this year because last year was a bust.
Is your mouth watering yet? If you're around for any of our garden parties this year, I'll offer you a piece of pie or jam or something delicious from our spoils. Until then, keep on keeping on and Love, Laugh and Dance! ~*.*~ www.LeaSheldan.com

Sing along with the lyrics below:
In Our Garden
It’s another sunny day
Got no work, so I’ll play
In our garden (garden) where the bees go (la la la la la la la)
It’s a race to the finish each time
We get one, the insects get nine
In our garden (garden) where raccoons go (la la la la la la la)
(no no no no) (La la la la la la la )
We dig and we pick and we trim
And we try to rope the grapes in
In our garden (garden) where the weeds grow (la la la la la la la)
Nothing gets me high
Like a rhubarb custard pie
From our garden (garden) where the cats go (la la la la la la la)
no no no no (la la la la la la)
We wait and we hope for the sun
So our veggies won’t be undone
In our garden (garden) where our love grows (la la la la la la la)
Harvest time is the best
After canning we need a rest
From our garden (garden) where the ants go (la la la la la la la)
We pick berries in black, pink, red, yellow and blue
Cherries, plums, peaches and dwarf apples too
It’s heaven as long as I do it with you
la la la la la la la . . .
It’s another sunny day
Come on, let’s go out and play
In our garden (garden) where our dreams grow (la la la la la la)
In our garden, in our garden, in our garden, in our garden
