The struggle is real with this sad tale of poverty that plays an old familiar chord with new, hopeful eyes. I wrote this one many years ago when I was going through financial struggles and hard times. As always, the mere exercise of writing a song gave me a moment of relief and comfort; urging me to carry on. I'm not one who gives up easily and this one is really a testament of how strong my will is to keep on keeping on. No matter how broke-ass we get or how many mistakes we make, we can survive it all with a dash of hope and a sprinkle of self-love.
Get ready for a unique Smokeywine ballad that is in a special class of its own; it's not blues, nor country, or folk or pop. The multi-layered orchestral sounds on the Yamaha electric piano play well with the morbid, haunting theme, elevating the emotions to the upper atmosphere. Strong piano and rambling bass back up the profound lyrics that dig deep into the underbelly of society. Choir-like harmonies are strategically placed to increase intensity which builds to a dramatic ending. (Smokeywine.com)

With his left hand, Mark played a broken C chord. (C E G and then added A + Bb) With his right hand he played the C chord in between each note his left hand played. Get creative with your endings and have fun! To get more tips on music theory, go to Mark's 'Music Made Easy' page on his website. Look for his hilarious 'Problem Solved' video shorts.
This beautiful fibre art creation of Mark's looks like fire on the mountain to me. It's inspired by a photo he took in Penticton last summer. The use of his colours are superb and it oozes savage emotions in the sky. It's a fun, new medium to light a fire under our asses to create shit.
I'd like to thank my new listeners in Denmark for supporting organic, homegrown music and local artists. It's important now more than ever to have each other's backs and share the love any way we can. We are having a blast doing weekly shows on Facebook Live every Thursday at 7:30 pm PST. Each mini concert is about 30 minutes long. The theme this Thursday, April 16th, 2020 will be 'Happy Grooves': 8 cover songs that might make you smile. Here's a little sample of what you get when you tune into 'Smokeywine the Live Series'. Until next time, do yourself a favour and Love, Laugh, Dance and Create. Stay safe! ~*.*~ Lea Sheldan
