There ain't no chains on me as I beat the congas and sing a strong message of self-love, courage and empowerment. To all the independent people out there who want to ride their own wave and create their own style, I say go for it. It feels good! I tell my fears to step away every day and thank my lucky stars that I live in a place where I enjoy many freedoms and pleasures of this world. Take for instance, this fibre art album cover. I am thrilled when I get to learn a new craft with supplies and tools easily obtained from the internet.
Well, here it is folks, my strange fashion sense. Over the years, as you know, I have sported many colours in my hair, worn moomoos and bubble dresses and manly suits and ties. I never shy away from bold statements but I have some very strict rules about shopping for clothes. Number 1: Do I feel like a goddess in this? Number 2: Is it age appropriate? Number 3: Would I want to be found dead in this outfit? And finally number 4: Would my husband, boyfriend, mother or grandmother want to borrow it? The 4th rule was added after the last trip to Value Village where multiple fashion disasters were held up to laugh at.
I have a new camera that takes super slow mo videos. Aurora and I were goofing around with it on Saturday. That purple dress sure can twirl... As for this week's new release; Smokeywine (Smokeywine.com) recorded 'No Chains' many years ago at Fluid Sound, downtown Vancouver with Peter Mitchell at the helm. It features Mark Dowding as a one-man horn section who pulled off picture perfect harmonies. I did my best funky beats on the hand drum to add passion and drive to the jazzy guitar sounds and some might say sexy vocals. (not me) This song may appear aggressive and forward, but I prefer to think of it as assertive and positive - celebrating individuality, confidence and independence. So until next time, remember to be free as a bird that flies and Love, Laugh and Dance. ~*.*~ Lea Sheldan

Sing along with the lyrics below:
No Chains
I ride my own wave
Create my own style
No one tells me what to do
I never get a hard time
When I walk in the rain
Or lay down by the sea
There is no one waiting
No one follows me
I’m as free as a bird that flies
There ain’t no chains on me (chains on me, baby)
Ain’t no chains on me (no chains on me)
I go where the wind blows
My spirit guides me
Waking up with wonder
I tell my fears to step away
And be free as a bird that flies
There ain't no chains on me (chains on me baby)
Ain't no chains on me (chains on me)
Come with me if you want to
I won’t tell you what to do
Ain’t no chains to hold us down. We’re free ah ah
So ride your own wave
And if you fall sometime
There is love and forgiveness
You only have to give in
And be free as a bird that flies
There ain't no chains on me (no chains on me baby)
I'm as free as a bird that flies
Ain't no chains on me (no chains on me baby)
Ain't no chains on me (no chains on me baby)
