The Language of Love

Encaustic art by Lea Sheldan

It's one fine day when you can get another human to speak your language of love. The styles are different for everyone I suppose, but for musicians, the real conversation is said with a song. When we were given the old, ugly, yellow-white, upright piano, I was inspired to write a different kind of melody. With this one, I picture myself in an after-hours smokey lounge; just me, my piano and a haunting, sexy saxophone.

The piano movers took one look at the marble paint job Linnette and I did and just about had a heart attack...haha psyche! But this piano moved many times with us - once, they lost control of it, launching it off the mover's ramp onto the ground in pieces. Mark put it back together and it was only slightly out of tune. Luckily, he is a master tuner and I was tinkling the ivories once again. I was sad to see the old piano go away in 2017. It was replaced with an electric model which records a heck of a lot better than the other.

Gerry Potter

The lyrics say it all in this song; there's something hopeful about it, there's something miserable about it, there's something magical about it. I practiced the lead break over and over to get it to sound smooth, like I knew what I was doing. LOL. Then, Gerry Potter played his saxophone parts more times than he wanted to, I bet, in my Twisted Gitar Music Studio in Port Coquitlam. It's a simple, sultry song that is relatable to most, easy on the ears and sweet enough to slow dance to. So, let yourself be transported to another place and time and until we speak again, remember to Love, Laugh and Dance! ~*.*~ Lea Sheldan

Sing along with the lyrics below:

Language of Love

Troubles blow away

You wake up to a sunny day

And you know you’re in love

In love with the one who found you

Who wraps her arms around you

Nowhere to go but straight up

You say that you’re my man

And that you understand

What it means to be true

True to the one who loves you

Who never ever doubts you

You've got nothing to lose

You speak my language of love

And walk that line that’s been walked for ages

Remember when you were mine

You know it’s right

If it feels good . . . And it feels good

You spent me like dime

Wore out my body and mind

Then you set my heart free

Now I’m free like an eagle flying

But inside I’m crying

Why don’t you come back to me?

And speak my language of love

Walk that line that’s been walked for ages

Remember when you were mine

You know it’s right

If it feels good

And it feels good. . . it feels good

Troubles blow away

You wake up to a sunny day

You're speaking the language of love
